We had a traditional Christmas turkey dinner with all the trimmings.  It was good food and great fun with family and friends.

Saturday Snowstorm

We woke up to 2” wet snow that stuck to the trees and produced this beautiful scene in our front yard:

We were hosting a Christmas turkey dinner for 15 people that afternoon.  Fortunately, in typical northern-Kentucky fashion, most of the snow melted within just a few hours.

Making Rosettes

One of my father’s favorite Christmas activities was to make rosettes, a traditional Scandinavian fried cookie.  We celebrated Dad’s birthday by making dozens of rosettes with a 130-year-old rosette iron that originally belonged to Grandma Semke’s mother.
