Gum Branch is a little high today, making the crossing an adventure. Darby is contemplating how she’s going to cross the stream without dipping her paws in the icy water.  Answer: she can’t, she’s gonna get wet!

We were excited to walk on the new Adair Nature Preserve (temporary name).  Barbara and her family have placed a conservation easement on over 200 acres of their property, which is adjacent to ours. We commend Barbara for preserving this beautiful Kentucky land for future generations of wildlife and people to enjoy!!  The world is [...]

We hiked with our friend Barbara down to Gum Branch, a stream behind our house on Barbara’s land. Shadow, Barbara and Theresa get ready to venture out on this beautiful but cold winter day.  The temps were in the low 20s but the sun felt warm on our skin.

We enjoyed a nice hike to a pretty waterfall with my Uncle Mike in Big Canoe, Georgia.  A rare snowfall (apparently it snows there only once or twice each year) made the hike even more special. See more photos and a video >>

Lisa, Steven and Amanda road-tripped from Michigan to Kentucky to visit Theresa and me this weekend.  It was so much fun to see them!   We went hiking in the Adair Wildlife Management Area.  We drove to Big Bone Church, parked in the adjacent Adair lot and started our hike.

We hiked to Adair Wildlife Management area again on this beautiful September day.  Here is a semi-rare photo of Timm, who’s watching a bunch of turkey vultures floating on the breeze above.  It’s “semi-rare” because Timm is usually behind the camera.
