We have a new toad friend who lives on our porch, swims in our dogs’ water bowl, and sits in front of the patio door all night long eating bugs dancing in the light. He has such an easy life that he has grown quite fat, which is why we call him “Jabba the Toad.”
During the day, Jabba likes to sit in the crack between the porch and house.
He’s very friendly and allows you to get right up into his face.
This is one of Jabba’s favorite spots. He sits here at night, basking in the warm glow of the lamp inside the house, and feasting on the endless supply of bugs that bounce along the patio door trying to get inside. It’s no wonder he’s turning into a fat little piggie!
Jabba loves sitting in the dogs’ water bowl. We’ve had to put out other water bowls for the dogs because Jabba spends so much time in this one. He doesn’t jump into any of their other bowls, however. I guess he feels safe sitting under the giant ceramic frog. (more water bowl photos)
Here’s a short video of Jabba taking a breather and winking.
