If you’ve been following the saga this summer of Jabba the Toad, you know that he lives on our deck and has adopted us as his host family.

At night Jabba sleeps under a chair we have on the deck for the dogs. It’s been getting chilly at night recently — quite cool for August. We were worried that Jabba would be too cold on our wood deck, so we decided to make him a hut. Theresa cut off the end of a little box, filled it with leaves, and placed it under the chair.

We weren’t sure if Jabba would like his new home. Theresa wondered if she should pick him up and place him in there, but I suggested we let Jabba discover the hut on his own so it would be his own idea.

Boy were we surprised when Jabba moved right in! Then we started to worry when Jabba didn’t leave from his hut for five days, not even for his nightly bug buffet. We were relieved to see him finally emerge from his hut yesterday and go for a swim in the dog’s dish.
Very cool hut Theresa! He was probably sneaking out at night looking for a “friend” to share his hut with
My toad only shows up at night and hangs out on the brick walls around my porch, he learned that is safest place to be after his encounter with Gracie.
