I believe these large birds are osprey. They have large nests high above on poles.
I was walking my mom’s little dog, and this bird never took its eye off us.
Notice how there are no wires going to the pole with the osprey nest. These are dedicated nesting poles, a fairly common sight in this part of Florida. The winged inhabitants here have dominion over a 2-acre grassy parking lot of a Baptist church. Not a bad home.
