This is the snowiest winter I can remember in Northern Kentucky. Although we haven’t had any massive snow storms this year, we’ve had a series of smaller snows ranging from 2-6” since early December that have kept us blanketed almost the entire time, a rare event in this part of the country.

Northern Kentucky is suffering through its third drought in five years. The general weather pattern seems to have changed recently. This area is usually quite moist year-round with at least 2” rain per month.
The grass is mostly brown, the plants are stressed, and some of the trees are starting to change colors and lose their leaves.
This praying mantis spent the morning staring at me through the screen. Apparently she was wanting to come in the house.
Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord I don’t get eat…
Heavy rain falling in the afternoon sun. This means that a rainbow can’t be far behind.
Jabba the Toad disappeared after we had been gone on vacation for a week. We thought that maybe she left the porch because her canine protectors weren’t guarding her.
A few days after we returned, so did Jabba. But then she disappeared again, this time for good.
Dozens of turkey vultures congregated in the trees along the country road near our house to feast on a roadkill deer.
