We went tree-hunting late this year because Theresa’s family is coming to town in late January to celebrate Christmas, and so we wanted our tree to last until then. We drove to all our favorite tree farms where we can cut our own tree, but they were all closed due to the drought the past few years. We didn’t want to buy a pre-cut tree since it probably wouldn’t last another month.
So for the first time, we went into our forest and cut a cedar for our Christmas tree. It’s a bit wild-looking and not a perfect V shape, but it smells wonderful and looks great in our room. We actually had to cut off the bottom third because it was too big for our stand. And when Christmas is over, this tree will serve as a nice home for furry little creatures in the forest.
